Data, AI & User Rights Policy

This policy outlines how Eteris Life uses, protects, and ethically manages your personal data, voice, and AI-generated content. It also details your rights and our responsibilities in delivering our storytelling and legacy preservation services.


1. AI & Voice Cloning Consent

We offer powerful AI tools, like voice cloning and story enhancement, to help you bring your legacy to life.

By opting into these services, you agree that:

-You give Eteris permission to process your voice, likeness, and media for storytelling purposes.

-Your AI-generated voice will only ever be used by you or those you explicitly authorise.

-Consent can be withdrawn at any time by contacting us at hello@eteris.com.au.

-No synthetic voice or likeness will be made public without your written approval.


2. Data We Collect

To deliver a personalised and interactive legacy experience, we might collect:

-Personal Details: Name, birth year, location, email, and story preferences

-Media Files: Photos, videos, voice recordings, legacy documents

-Generated Content: AI-enhanced narratives, transcripts, story timelines

-Activity Logs: Usage patterns, browser type, session duration (for service improvements)

All content is used strictly to provide the services you’ve selected and to maintain your private digital archive.


3. Data Security & Retention

Your story deserves protection. We follow strict security protocols:

-Data is encrypted and stored on secure, industry-compliant cloud servers.

-Only you (and your authorised contacts) can access your full story archive.

-Archives are retained for up to 50 years, unless deleted by you earlier.

-We periodically back up your data to ensure long-term preservation and peace of mind.

You can export, update, or delete your archive at any time.


4. Refunds & Cancellations

We want your Eteris experience to be meaningful and fair.

-Refunds are available within 14 days of purchase—as long as AI services (voice cloning, narrative generation) have not yet begun.

-For multi-tier services (e.g. Eternal, Signature), partial refunds may be considered at our discretion if early-stage services haven’t been completed.

-If you cancel after AI processing has started, refunds are not guaranteed.

5. User Rights & Story Control

You are the owner of your legacy. You have the right to:

-View all data held about you

-Request changes to your stories or media

-Delete your digital archive entirely

-Pause or stop any AI or voice-based processing

-Designate a family member or loved one to manage your archive in the future

6. Children’s Privacy

Eteris is designed for adults aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 without verified parental or guardian consent.


7. Third-party Services

To operate smoothly, Eteris integrates with trusted third-party platforms:

-Hosting & Storage: Netlify, Vercel, AWS, Supabase, Weaviate

-Payment Processing: Stripe

-AI Services: OpenAI, ElevenLabs, AssemblyAi, and others

-Analytics: Plausible (privacy-focused)

We only partner with providers who meet strict data handling and confidentiality standards.


8. Cookies & Session Data

We use a minimal number of cookies and tracking technologies:

-For core site functionality (e.g., keeping you logged in)

-For privacy-first analytics (e.g., Plausible)

-No cross-site advertising or tracking cookies are used.
